The capacity to innovate and  the ability for creative  problem solving; skills like critical thinking, communication and collaboration are beneficially in any field and gives a boost to academic knowledge.
British writer Jeanette Winterson sums it beautifully when for the 1994 Commencement speech she said, “Art can make a difference because it pulls people up short. It says, don’t accept things for their face value; you don’t have to go along with any of this; you can think for yourself. It gives you a kind of self-reliance.”
