Art as a career and the unlimited options

Is your child artistically inclined? That’s wonderful, really! But are you open to the idea  for your ward to choose ‘Art’ as a Career ?
We live in society where accomplishments are constantly being measured according to our merits.But our ideas regarding success should be our own and children should be allowed to pursue this vocation to find out if their hobby can turn into a passionate career choice.
 ‘Arts’ does not necessarily mean poor hungry artists, neither is it restricted to certain fields such as Architecture, Dress designing or Painting alone. It can be a great preparation for careers where creative thinking, fine motor skills and presentation skills are required. Today, a vast number of career options are available for those who are able to envision, design and create beautiful things. The capacity to innovate and  the ability for creative  problem solving; skills like critical thinking, communication and collaboration are beneficially in any field and gives a boost to academic knowledge.
British writer Jeanette Winterson sums it beautifully when for the 1994 Commencement speech she said, “Art can make a difference because it pulls people up short. It says, don’t accept things for their face value; you don’t have to go along with any of this; you can think for yourself. It gives you a kind of self-reliance.”
